Mesa is jewelry and personal effects created by artist Anna Evans inspired by her life in the American West. Anna collects semi-precious stones to incorporate into her jewelry, in addition to choice minerals from other lapidaries and rockhounds. All metals are from recycled sources and all stones are collected in the USA to uphold the highest standards of sustainability and fair labor.
Anna also designs textiles using local heritage breed wool she hand spins, then dyes using native plants and her dye garden. She is a certified Desert Naturalist and works to restore native species and educate through her gardens and foraged flora.
Wool rug with cotton warp dyed with marigold, elm bark, and indigo.
Anna proudly sits on the Green River, UT City Council where she lives and works. She was born and raised 100 miles down the road in Grand Junction, CO, spent a few years in the Sierra Nevadas, landed in Portland, OR receiving a BA in Business Management and Leadership from PSU. After 15 years in the city she was ready to move back to a small town in the desert. She and her partner/collaborator Christopher Henderson are building their desert home on a defunct miniature golf course and use an old service station for their studio spaces.
Mesa Jewelry is available in select retail locations that share the same sustainable practices. For wholesale or other inquiries email anna [at] mesa-made [dot] com (sorry, not taking custom orders at this time).
